How to Install Mods to your Satisfactory Server

Are you looking to elevate your Satisfactory dedicated server with mods? You're in the right place. Modding can add exciting new mechanics, items, and quality of life improvements to your server experience. Taking mods to multiplayer brings it to another level! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to install the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM) and configure your Nodecraft dedicated server for modded gameplay. Let's break down the process step by step.

Prerequisites

Before we dive straight into modding, you’ll need to make sure you have the following:

  1. A Nodecraft Satisfactory server up and running and already claimed. If you don't have one, you can easily set one up through the control panel or purchase one here.

  2. Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM) installed on your local machine. Download it from ficsit.app.

Install and Setup Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM)

To get start, head over to the Ficsit App and download the Satisfactory Mod Manager. Follow the installation instructions to set it up on your local machine.

Once the installation is complete, open the Satisfactory Mod Manager and make sure your game is detected. If your game is installed through Steam, Satisfactory Mod Manager will automatically recognize it. You will also need to toggle Mods On in the top left corner.

Enable SFTP Access on Nodecraft Server

To upload mods to your dedicated server, you need to enable SFTP access. Here’s how to set it up:

Note: We recommend fully stopping your Satisfactory server when making any edits or config changes.

  1. Log into your Nodecraft account.

  2. Navigate to the Nodecraft Pro Panel for your Satisfactory dedicated server.

  3. Go to Server Files and then FTP/SFTP Access

  4. Click the Enable SFTP button.

You will now be able to directly FTP to your server and upload files securely.

Configure Satisfactory Mod Manager

To apply mods to your Nodecraft server, you'll need to configure SMM to connect to your server using the SFTP credentials.

To continue installing mods to your Nodecraft server, we will now need to configure SMM to connect to your Satisfactory server using the FTP credentials from the previous step. This is the main step towards ultimate mod management.

  1. Launch SMM and navigate to the Manage Servers section on the left sidebar.

4. After entering the details, click Add and it should automatically connect to your dedicated server.

If the connection is successful, you'll be able to manage mods directly on your Satisfactory server through the mod management abilities of SMM.

Installing Mods

Now that your server is configured in SMM, you can proceed with installing and managing your mods.

  1. In the SMM, search for mods you'd like to install on your server. You can browse by category, popularity, or search for specific mods.

  2. Once you've found the mods that you would like to install, click the download button next to it.

  3. The mods may be automatically applied depending on the option you picked during SMM's initial startup.

  4. If the mod does not automatically apply to your server, you will need select Apply Changes in the bottom left corner.

  5. Your mods should now be installed!

Note: It's important to make sure the mods are fully compatible with your dedicated server!

Verify the Mods are installed

Now that your server and game are configured with mods, we need to verify if they are installed and working. The best way to do this is by testing!

  1. Launch your game through SMM or through a launcher such as Steam.

  2. Verify that you have mod information in the bottom left corner of the main menu.

  3. You can then connect to your Satisfactory server and ensure that things are working as expected.

Troubleshooting

If you run into issues with your modded server, here are a few tips to help you troubleshoot:

  • Check Connection: Ensure that your SFTP credentials are correct and that SFTP access is enabled in the Nodecraft panel.

  • Mod Compatibility: Some mods may not be updated for the latest version of Satisfactory. Always verify compatibility before installing mods to your dedicated server.

  • Server Crashes After Modding: If the server crashes after installing a mod, try removing the most recently installed mod and restarting the server.
