Hytale Early Access Drops Jan 13th!
Hytale is on its way! And while the start may be a little rough around the edges, that's what early access is for. Let's explore what features will be ready, and what you can expect for gameplay and performance.
The Rough
We were so close to never being able to play Hytale at all, getting to dive in while they work out the bugs is just fine for us. But be aware: there will be bugs! The team has been very transparent that this will be a true early access experience. The gameplay loop is incomplete, errors will abound, and there will likely be performance issues, so hang tight and be patient. Give the team friendly bug reports. With development time, things will get better.
The Ready
Creative Mode
Despite the early release pains, the team has expressed that modding and creative tools are coming along. And they really do look exciting, as demonstrated in Hytale's preview video. Creative mode takes elements of terraforming that were executable only through modding in the past, and brings them into the game in a way that is unprecedented in how intuitive it is to use. You can change and form the earth with brushes, controlling the shapes and materials with ease.
Modding
While the Hytale team has expressed that they're unsatisfied with the current state of the game's modding capacity, modding is a core part of Hytale. Even as a work in progress, there's an immense amount of room for mod and plugin developers to play. Hytale's technical director has released a detailed blog with excellent reference points for what is possible within their system in its current state, and resources for the modding community.
Exploration Mode
While Adventure mode is not quite ready, which is the game mode that contains the Hytale plot, it will launch with Exploration mode. This mode is similar to Minecraft's survival mode, in that you have the world to roam for building, farming, and exploring with your friends.
