How to Make a Backpack in Hytale
Backpacks are one of those quality-of-life upgrades in Hytale that you never want to go without once you have one. More inventory space means longer adventures, fewer trips back to the base, and a lot less painful item juggling. In this guide, we’ll walk through exactly how to make a backpack in Hytale, including what materials you need and where to get them, so you can spend more time exploring and less time player inventory Tetris.
Collect Basic Materials
To craft a backup, you’ll need the following:
| Material | Quantity | Where to Find |
|---|---|---|
| Tree Logs | 16 | Cutting down trees |
| Stone | 12 | Mining rocks |
| Light Hide | 3 | Hunting small animals, such as chickens or pigs |
| Iron Ore | 8 | Mining iron, found in deeper caves |
| Medium Hide | 8 | Hunting medium sized animals, such as moose or wolves |
Crafting
Hit Tab to open your inventory.
In Pocket Crafting, craft a Workbench.

Place the Workbench, then walk up to it and hit F to open its interface.
Select the Crafting tab at the top and craft a Furnace.

Place the Furnace, then walk up to it and hit F to open its interface.
Use the Furnace to smelt your Iron into Iron Ingots. This will require a fuel source, such as wood, charcoal, or plant fibers.

Return to the Workbench and craft a Tanning Rack.

Place the Tanning Rack, then walk up to it and hit F to open its interface.
Use the Tanning Rack to process your Medium Hide into Medium Leather.

Once your Iron Ingots and Medium Leather are done, collect them and return to the Workbench.
From the Tinkering tab, craft a Backpack Unlock.

Access the Backpack from within your Inventory.

Conclusion
With your backpack crafted, you’re officially ready to roam farther, loot longer, and worry a whole lot less about running out of space mid-adventure. It’s a small upgrade that makes a massive difference, especially once exploration and resource gathering start to ramp up. Toss it on, load it up, and get back out into Orbis. Your inventory will thank you later.
