Installing Palworld Mods
Most Palworld mods today require UE4SS. This guide will cover the installation and usage of these mods. Some mods may vary installation wise and we recommend following their guide/tutorial if they have one.
Currently, server modding with Linux, like we use at Nodecraft, isn't yet functional. However, we will also cover how to install the mods on the client side, i.e., on your personal computer.
Installing Mods on the Server
Currently, Palworld mods are designed to function on Windows-based systems. Due to this, they are currently incompatible with our servers, which run on Linux. This incompatibility may limit some functionalities or features. However, the popularity and demand for mods are acknowledged, and any future changes to their compatibility will be promptly updated in this article.
Installing Mods on Your Computer
Step 1: Locate Directory
You will need to locate the specific folder for the game Palworld.
This folder is typically found within a larger folder named SteamApps. The SteamApps folder is a default directory that stores all the games you've downloaded through the Steam gaming platform. Once you've opened the SteamApps folder, you should be able to easily locate the Palworld folder.
Step 2: Download UE4SS
Visit the GitHub releases page and proceed to download the Unreal Engine 4 Shader Switcher, also known as UE4SS.
Ensure that you select the correct version that is compatible with your system and game.
Step 3: Install UE4SS
Begin by extracting the UE4SS files.
Once that's done, proceed to install these files into the Pal\Binaries\Win64
folders. You can find these folders inside your main Palworld directory. Make sure the files are correctly placed to ensure a smooth and error-free operation.
Step 4: Prepare UE4SS
Now, we will be creating a new folder. This folder should be named “UE4SS_Signatures”.
Once you have created this folder, the next step is to download a specific file. The file we need is FName_Constructor.lua
. After successfully downloading the file, the next step is to upload it. The place where we will be uploading this file is into the “UE4SS_Signatures” folder that we created in the initial part of this step.
Step 5: Add Modifications
You are now prepared to upload modifications to your game.
To do this, you will need to locate the 'mods' folder within the game's file directory. Begin by navigating to the 'Win64' folder. Within this folder, you'll find another folder titled 'mods' or may need to create it if it doesn’t exist. This is the destination for your new game modifications. Place your mod files within this 'mods' folder to successfully install them to your game.
Step 6: Activate Modifications
Step 6: To activate your modifications, you'll need to enable the mods within the mods.txt file.
You can locate this specific file inside the mods folder. Once you have opened the mods.txt file, you can proceed to enable the mods you wish to activate for your game.
Step 7: Verify Mods enabled
Step 7: The final step is to verify that all the mods have been enabled in the game.
This is crucial to ensure that they're functioning as expected and enhancing your gaming experience. If you have diligently followed this guide and installed the mod configuration menu mod, then you should be able to observe a new button appearing in the top right corner of the game.
